eleven meses
Quick 10-month update before she turns 11 months old. Time goes so quickly! My baby is getting BIG. Sigh. Speaking of big. We weighed her at our friends' house today and she is 24 pounds. Dang. That is fully clothed with shoes, though. Still, dang. She still eats breast milk but also tons of other food. In the morning she eats a whole wheat waffle and she usually eats most of it. (Some she feeds to the dog.) She eats baby yogurt and baby food jars. Her favorite is chicken and stars. Mmmm. She feeds herself cheerios and veggie poofs and pieces of bread but she will not feed herself anything the least bit slimy like fruit or meat or avocado or anything. I guess avocado is a fruit so that wasn't a very good sentence. Anyway. She signs milk and more and all done. And somebody asked... we just sign with her so she can communicate better before she talks, she doesn't have any hearing problems or anything that we know of. Speaking of talking.... she says "Mam" and "Dad" but it is hard to tell if she says them for what they mean. She says "Dat" all time. And "Dum" and "Bum." Which is funny. the other day she called her Daddy and "Oaf." Heh. She says something that sounds like "more" when she signs more. She's so smaaaart. She still has very little hair. She still has blue eyes. She crawls and cruises and can stand by herself but only for about five seconds. She loves the magnets on the refrigerator, she will stand there for like an hour picking them off, throwing them on the floor and then waiting for the parent to pick them up and put them back on the refrigerator, and then picking them off and throwing them on the floor again. Fun game. All right have to go finish the calendar. Naps are short. xoxox

nine months
Evelyn at nine months.... likes:
- The dog. He's so funny.
- Pulling to stand. She looks at you with this huge surprised smile like, "Hey! Check this out!"
- Other babies. Especially her cousin. He is six months old and very interesting. You should meet him.
- Feeding herself things. Cheerios or what-have-you.
- Bubbles. Esp. Gymb0ree bubbles.
- Kitchen items. i.e. some thing I got from one of those kitchen party things that's supposed to be used for picking up boiled eggs? Oh my gosh loves that thing. And measuring cups. Way fun.
- Nursing. Mmm milky.
- Baths. Splashing mommy in bath.
- Jazz. Especially be-bop... Sonny Stitt, Charlie Parker, etc.
- Daddy. That guy is cool.
- The mall. Holy crap she's a consumer. As soon as we walk in there she starts smiling and flapping her little arms. Must squelch this.
- Sleeping in between mommy and daddy- puts one arm out each way to make sure we're both there.
- Saying "Hat!" Which doesn't mean any kind of headwear. Or anything else really, just kind of a general exclamation.
- The Elvis magnets on the refrigerator.
- Pulling hair. Mean baby.
dislikes:
- When mommy leaves the room. Crap is she going to work again?! (*sniff of gloom from mommy*)
- Being on tummy/trying to crawl. Crawling is for peasants.
- Getting teeth.
- Waking up from afternoon nap. Always wakes up with a sad, sad face, even though wakes up from morning nap and nighttime sleep with grins and babbles.
- Being held by people who are not mommy or daddy.
- Peaches. Ick.
- When someone takes her toy away. Especially if said toy is something really fun like Daddy's glasses or a delicious piece of paper.
